Fountain sits just south of Colorado Springs, and the RV lots here pull shoppers from both cities. I bought my first trailer down this way and walked away from a deal at another lot, so I know the difference a good dealership makes. What to expect from Fountain lots
Fountain is a small city with a mix of new and used inventory. Two of the four dealerships here offer financing, and the same two handle service and parts. That means you can often buy and get work done in one place. The average rating across all four is 4.3, which is decent but not perfect. Camping World has the most reviews by far, over 2,100, so read those carefully. Windish RV has a strong 4.4 from 678 reviews. Gateway RV is new with just one review, so visit in person before you commit. The nearby Colorado Springs market adds twelve more dealers, giving you plenty to compare before you sign.
Where to start your search
Windish RV - Colorado Springs is a solid first stop for new and used motorhomes and travel trailers. They also do trade-ins, which can simplify things if you already own an RV. Camping World - Fountain is the biggest volume dealer and carries used units plus motorhomes and travel trailers. They take consignments too, so you might find a bargain. Transwest Truck Trailer RV of Fountain focuses on new units and offers delivery and service. Gateway RV LLC is the smallest, with new inventory and delivery available. Call ahead to confirm hours and what is on the lot.
Buying advice from someone who has done it
Get a pre-purchase inspection on any used RV, even from a dealer. It costs a little but can save you thousands. For new units, schedule the walk-through at delivery and test every system: water, propane, slides, and electrical. Do not rush that appointment. Get financing pre-approved from your own bank or credit union before you talk numbers at the lot. Off-season buying can work in your favor, especially in Colorado where winter slows sales. Check the service department's reputation, not just the sales floor. And if a deal feels off, walk away. I did once, and it was the right call.
