Auburn sits at the crossroads of I-80 and Highway 49, which means a lot of RV lots are within a short drive. Five dealers call the city home, plus another twelve nearby. The average rating here is 4.7, so you have decent options. I've bought two RVs and walked away from a third, and I'd start with the shops that let you take a close look before you commit.

Where to start
Basecamp RV Sales has the highest review count of the group and a 4.9 rating from 154 reviews. They carry used units, motorhomes, and travel trailers, and they offer delivery. If you want a new rig, Affordable RVs is the only lot in town with new inventory, and they also have financing and a service department. AdventureBumss Van conversions is a niche shop with a 4.9 rating from 35 reviews, so if a van conversion is your thing, it's worth a call ahead. Interstate RV and Gold Country RV round out the five. Interstate has service, parts, consignment, and delivery, while Gold Country focuses on used and travel trailers with financing available.
What to check before you buy
With four dealers selling used RVs, you have plenty of choices, but that also means you need to do your homework. Ask for maintenance records and consider a pre-purchase inspection from an independent RV tech. I skipped that once and paid for it later. Also, two dealers offer financing, but getting pre-approved by your own bank or credit union gives you a baseline to compare rates. And don't forget the walk-through at delivery; that's when you learn how everything works, so take notes or record it.
When to shop and what's nearby
Late fall and winter tend to be slower for RV sales, so you may find more room to negotiate. Auburn is close to the Sierra foothills, with plenty of places to camp and test out your new rig. The area also has the American River and nearby lakes, so you can plan a shakedown trip close to home. If you need service after the sale, check which dealers have their own service department, like Affordable RVs and Interstate RV. That can save you a headache down the road.
