What to expect from Idaho Falls towable lots
With five dealers in town, you won't find a huge selection, but you will find a mix of new and used inventory. All five dealers carry used travel trailers, and two also handle motorhomes, so if you're cross-shopping a Class C, you can look at those too. Four of the five offer financing, which makes it easier to get pre-approved on the spot, though I'd still check with my own bank first. Service and parts are common, so you can get work done without leaving town. The smaller lots, like Idaho Toy Haulers & RV, may have fewer units but often give you more attention.
Big lots, small lots, and what that means for you
Smith RV and Bish's RV of Idaho Falls are the volume dealers, with hundreds of reviews and large inventories. That means more floorplans to walk through, but you may wait for a salesperson. Camping World is the biggest by review count, but its 4.3 rating suggests mixed experiences; read recent reviews and don't let the size alone convince you. Teton Adventures RV and Idaho Toy Haulers & RV are smaller and rate well, which often means a more relaxed buying process. I bought my second trailer at a small lot and appreciated the lack of pressure, but I still did a full pre-purchase inspection.
Financing, trade-ins, and service after the sale
Four of the five dealers offer financing, and Smith RV also takes trades and delivers. If you have a trade, get a written offer and compare it to what you'd get selling privately. For financing, get pre-approved at your own bank or credit union before you shop; it gives you a baseline and keeps the negotiation about the trailer, not the payment. Check each dealer's service department wait times, especially in spring. Some lots have busy shops, and you want to know where you'll take the trailer for warranty work. Parts availability matters too, particularly for common brands.
