Where to start
General RV Center and Giant Recreation World are the two big names in Winter Garden. General RV has a 4.6 rating from 426 reviews and carries new and used motorhomes and travel trailers, plus service, parts, trade-ins, and delivery. Giant Recreation World has a 4.5 from 1,128 reviews, offers financing, service, parts, and delivery. Both are worth a visit, but call ahead to confirm the model you want is on the lot. I learned that the hard way after a two-hour drive. Also ask about their pre-delivery inspection process and whether you can see the service bay.
What to expect on the lot
Of the five dealers, three carry motorhomes, two carry travel trailers, and one focuses on used units. If you want a motorhome, you have choices; for travel trailers, your options are slimmer but still workable. Millers Rental Car Florida Auto has a 4.7 rating from 204 reviews and offers delivery, which could be handy if you are not local. Rhino Linings Giant Recreation World has a 5.0 from just 3 reviews, so take that with a grain of salt. Giant Recreation World Rentals has a 3.0 from 2 reviews, so maybe skip that one for a purchase.
Before you sign
Get a pre-purchase inspection from an independent RV technician, even on a new unit. I skipped that once and ended up with a water leak the dealer could not find. Ask for a full walk-through at delivery, and record it on your phone. Check the service department's backlog; if they are weeks out, you will wait for warranty work. Financing is offered at one dealer, but get pre-approved by your own bank first so you have a baseline. Off-season buying can mean more attention from sales staff and better deals on last year's models.
